Gardening, an art

Warmer thoughts...

"Gardening, is the slowest of the performing arts" ...author C. Colston Burrell

And so it is, a dance of infinitesimal steps with a patient partner who won't be rushed.

A garden makes us all artists.

Why go local?

Here are six reasons to shop at an independently, locally owned and operated garden center

1 High-quality plants. Our shop is your source for the best plants for your area. We grow them locally, they aren't shipped in from some far away nursery with different climate-growing requirements. More exciting -because we grow them, we do not need to charge tax on our plants. What better way to save money?

2 Gardening expertise. Rob, our grower has a degree in horticulture and soil science. Then there is the rest of us with many years of experience in the garden center, with plants and connections with local experts. We all have soil in our souls - proof of our love and knowledge for our plants!

3 Personal service. Dedicated staff helps you find what you need and can offer "how-to" advice. From highly informed owners to seasoned employees hired to efficiently make your visit productive, quick and pleasant.

4 Passion to match yours. Rob and Wendy, owners of Pinecone Perennials have had green thumbs all of their lives, inherited from prior generations, so starting their business around their passion was the perfect way to promote gardening. They share their enthusiasm with the rest of the staff and finally with all of you!

5 Creative ideas. We at Pinecone Perennials offer inspiration. Looking for landscape ideas, indoor displays, holiday decorations? We can help make you decisions easier.

6 Opportunity to support local business. Shopping at our independently owned garden center fosters a greater sense of community and gives the local economy a boost.

Holly and Ivy Tour

HANGING OF THE GREENS AND THE POINSETTIAS...

The table was set, the decorations and flowers in place, the lights were dimmed, all we needed was some quiet Christmas music. It was a perfect holiday setting... We at Pinecone Perennials were asked to decorate one of the homes on the Holly and Ivy Tour and this home was none other than Mr. Andy D'Angelis on Middle St. His home is a gorgeous condo on the second floor above the Bank of the Arts. Beautiful hardwood floors, huge, wonderful windows and original metal ceilings made it easy to design and decorate for the holiday. It was fun to use some of our artistic talents and are looking forward to participating next year.

Core Sound Crab Pot Trees

One of the hottest items around!

A Core Sound tree is a unique creation made from green coated crab trap mesh. The trees come in 1.5', 2', 3', 4' and 6' tall.
To use outdoors, we recommend anchoring the trees with several anchor wires (included) in case of wind. For interior use, they Can be placed on the floor, on a low table or even opened half way and hung on the wall.
The trees are pre-strung with lights and fold flat for storage. Just unfold and secure sides together with twist ties - your tree is ready to decorate!
Use on your lawn, your boat, front porch or in your garden. I takes only minutes to assemble and start enjoying!

Camellias in your landscape

Did you know you can mingle your camellias in your landscape for a stunning effect all year long?
Use the glossy foliage as a backdrop during the non-blooming months for other shrubs and flowers. This presents a continuously changing image all year long.
Helpful that they are evergreen and deer-resistant, camellias are not only beautiful when they are in bloom but they are exceptionally lovely garden companions when they are not in bloom!

The elves are busy making handmade wreaths so fresh some of the greens have been harvested from our own nursery!

The mixed wreath is very textural and made from white pine, boxwood, cedar, douglas fir and noble fir. The rich, green color combined with it's fullness makes this wreath a lovely focal point for your front door.

The boxwood wreath is classic and robust. A very traditional holiday wreath is simple to decorate and beautiful enough to shine with just a pretty bow.
